January 2016 – book statistics

Book haul, book unhaul, and books read in January 2016

In the month of January, I acquired a total of 19 books. Some of which I managed to read this month. I unhauled two books: The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton, and Tin Toeval in de Onderwereld by Guus Kuijer. I enjoyed reading the Miniaturist, but I know I’ll never pick it up again, because it just wasn’t a favorite or really stuck with me in any particular way. Plus, I got it from a friend who wanted me to pass it on, so that’s what’s going to happen. The other was a children’s book that really just wasn’t for me.

Spending wise I did pretty awesome, because I won some books and had a gift card, which means that in total I only paid €18.95 for all these books. Not too bad, if I do say so myself.

  1. Winter – Marissa Meyer
  2. Het helse paradijs – Thea Beckman
  3. The Lost Hero – Rick Riordan
  4. Ein unmoralisches Sonderangebot – Kerstin Gier
  5. Die Braut sagt leider nein – Kerstin Gier
  6. Fisherman’s Friend in meine Koje – Kerstin Gier
  7. Sometime in the 21st Century: a book for strangers – James Banks
  8. Ten Thousand Skies Above You – Claudia Gray
  9. The War of the Worlds – H. G. Wells
  10. Stupid White Men – Michael Moore
  11. One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest – Ken Kesey
  12. The Alchemist – Paulo Coelo
  13. The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas – John Boyne
  14. Symboliek van Sprookjes  – J. F. Croes – van Delden
  15. De Stam van de Holebeer – Jean M. Auel
  16. A Vindication of the Rights of Woman – Mary Wollstonecraft
  17. The Beauty Myth – Naomi Wolf
  18. Simonehh en mijn tweeling broer – Erdal Balci
  19. Americanah – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

I didn’t manage to read as many books as I had planned (10) this month, I ‘only’ read 8. However, I did read two books that both had 800 pages, so all in all, the total books that I read isn’t too bad. It does mean however that I am behind on my Goodreads challenge. There’s still plenty of time to catch up though!

Concerning my TBR pile, it didn’t go down, because I also acquired quite so many books this month. I don’t think it will be much better next month, because it will be my birthday and more books will be added to my TBR. Hopefully after that, the book acquiring will hopefully slow down for a while, so I can actually get to my TBR. After all, I want to have a maximum of 150 books on my TBR at the end of the year. Right now, it’s on 207 books, so I still have a bit to go.

  1. Shattered – Teri Terri
  2. Hotspot – Theo Hoogstraten
  3. Vogel – Oh Jung-hee
  4. Winter – Marissa Meyer
  5. Het helse paradijs – Thea Beckman
  6. The Miniaturist – Jessie Burton
  7. Tin Toeval in de onderwereld – Guus Kuijer
  8. 11.22.63 – Stephen King

How are your reading stats this first month of the year? Are you still on track?

    1. It did get a bit longwinded in places, but after I’d gotten a fair end I didn’t just want to give up on it. The ending is actually quite nice. Though from the two books I’ve read so far by Stephen King, I should probably conclude he’s not going to be my favorite writer.
